The Big Chill.

The Big Chill.

Change in seasons is always beautiful but with these comes the need to make adjustments to your skincare routine, ensuring skin remains in its optimal health. There are so many aggressors to combat when autumn arrives including colder temperatures, harsh winds and of course central heating. Follow our tips to see how simple changes can make a big difference.

1. Choose a cream cleanser.

Foam cleansers are often popular over the summer months. They’re light and tackle increased sebum production often caused by warmer more humid weather. When the temperatures drop switch to a cream cleanser, this will hydrate and boost moisture levels.  Our Gentle Cleansing Milk contains rejuvenating Dead Sea minerals and Vitamin E to protect and rebuild the skin.

2. Exfoliate with care.

It’s very important to not over exfoliate but this is even more crucial in the colder months. Facial skin is very thin and needs to be handled with care to avoid leaving it open to sensitivity and resulting skin conditions. How often to exfoliate is a longstanding debate; some believe enforced shedding of the skin is more harmful than beneficial whilst others see the need to remove layers of old product and skin as crucial. A general rule is to exfoliate a maximum of one to two times a week. Again use a gentle exfoliator, which protects the younger underlying skin whilst it sloughs away the dead layers such as our Gentle Exfoliating Cream. This contains Dead Sea Minerals, Walnut Shell Granules, Vitamin E, Apple Extract and Wheat Protein to naturally exfoliate and boost radiance.

3. Consider changing your lip balm.

Scented and tinted lip balms are often preferable to lipsticks in the summer months but these can actually dehydrate lips. Try swapping to a basic unscented lip balm and see if this gives you better results.

4. Keep up the hydration.

Most of us are more mindful about staying hydrated by drinking our two litres of water a day in the summer months but it’s just as important to continue this through the other seasons.  Skin consists of more than 60% water and maintaining the recommended water intake will plump the skin, encouraging collagen production and help to give a youthful appearance.

5. Use a facial oil.

Facial oils are a firm favourite in any season but if you’re only applying it once a day ensure you do this at night for optimal results. Nocturnal blood flow is generally much higher which makes it more susceptible to absorbing product.

Apply these before a cream moisturiser; this will increase the absorption of the cream’s active properties. Thus taking the anti-ageing ingredients closer to the collagen producing fibroblasts, which they intend to stimulate/activate. Our Make Me…Youthful Intensive Facial Oil is a luxury organic skin saver that feeds the skin with anti-ageing super hero key ingredients such as Marula, Evening Primrose Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Seabuckthorn Oil, Rosehip Oil, Organic Sunflower Oil, Geranium Bourbon, Frankincense, Palmarosa, Sandalwood, Rose Hydrolat, and Dead Sea Mineral Salt.

Making just a few minor changes can make a big difference so be mindful of what your skin needs and enjoy what autumn has to offer.
